We breathe to sustain life. Prayer is often described as the breath of our Christianity. In 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, Paul encourages us to 'pray without ceasing'. We ought to be in constant communication with God, who is our source of life. Just as we need to breathe to stay alive physically, we need to be in constant prayer to stay alive spiritually. Failure to do so will result in spiritual death.
Eden represents God's ideal plan. When God created Adam and Eve, He placed them in a perfect world, where they had constant access to communicate with Him face-to-face. Sadly, sin separated us from God, which changed the dynamic of prayer. However, God always maintained communication with His people. When Jesus came to earth, He set an example for us by being constant in prayer. When His disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray, in Matthew 6:9-13, the template He gave them involves first acknowledging God for who He is and giving Him adoration and praise. Prayer is also our time to ask God for things we need, including forgiveness for the sins we have committed. Don't forget to thank the Lord for all He has done! We must be careful that our prayers aren't only to present our needs to the Lord but also to thank Him for all the blessings He has given us.
The A.C.T.S. Prayer Guide and Journal for Answered Prayers are both great resources to help you develop the habits of prayer and thanksgiving. Today is the best day to purchase both e-books to record your blessings.
Blessings Everyone,
